How ginger, bitter kola can improve sex drive, libido
MOST men, regardless of age, have experienced at least an occasional low sex drive. Beginning at age 40, there is usually a definite decrease in sexual ability and libido. A decreased sexuality is also seen in both men and women at lower ages than 40 for many other reasons. Everyone has a sex drive. Most people do not think about it too much – their libido is just part of who they are. However, when it rises or fails dramatically or such gets involved with someone who has a different sex drive, it can become an issue.

The good news is however that most low sexual desire issues are easily remedied. Many natural libido supplements and enhancers, known as aphrodisiacs can help to stimulate sex drive, feelings of love and attraction and sexual performance. They are safe to take as compared to prescription drugs meant for this purpose that may cause unwanted side effects such as nose blockage, irregular heart beats, blood pressure changes, chest pain, visual disturbance, nausea, headaches and flushes.
One of such is ginger able to help enhance sex drive and desire. Medical research had also evaluated the effect of ginger on libido and found it to be very effective.

Using rats, water extracts of ginger root were feed to them to assess this was an 8-day period. The organs of animals when tested. There was an increase in the weight of the testis, testosterone level, and testicular cholesterol level, according to Dr. Yinusa Raji, of the Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. The increase in the weights of the accessory sex organs in the animals, he explained may have arises from an increase in the secretion of testosterone , a male hormone in the treated rats.

Besides, he said ginger has been in African traditional medicine, especially in Cameroon as aphrodisiac and male sexual stimulation for decades.
Dr. (Mrs.) Omokafe Ugbogu ,a plant expert with Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Ibadan also confirmed that many natural supplements can be used to increase libido. She mentions the root of bitter kola plant as one of such. The root of bitter kola plant is chopped and soaked inside an alcoholic drink, and allowed to ferment for about two days.

Over the years, people have searched for foods to put them in the right mood for sex from kitchens. Researchers say the smell, taste and even appearance of certain foods can act both as a potent sex enhancer to get you in the mood for love and also a better lover. Different foods have been found to have different nutrients and substances that affect the body physiologically in different ways. Some foods lower inhibitions, some get the blood flowing directly to the genitalia while some release happy hormones.

For example, spicy foods with chili peppers, bananas and carrots all secrete chemicals and hormones that make you happy in order to increase self confidence, lower inhibitions and make you a better lover. While spicy foods get the heart pumping and induce sweating, carrots because of its high-fiber content may induce sexual desire just as bananas because of the chemical substances it contains gives you a mood lifting effect and raise self confidence.

Certain foods also release hormones like testosterone in women so making them more sexually aggressive and adventurous. Tomatoes, known as “love apples” by Puritans for example have a reputation as a sexual stimulant. Olive also makes a man more virile. Other sex performance or arousal supplements also include coffee and chocolate. Chocolate contains an active ingredient called phenyl ethylamine that is natural and effective for stimulating sex drive.

Grapes, avocado, almond, walnuts and other spices such as ginseng, fennel and clover are also valuable as libido boosters. Ginger no doubt is one herb used as a medicine since ancient time. In China, for example, ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat stomach upset, diarrhoea and nausea for more than 2000 years. In addition, it is believed to help the common cold, flu like symptoms, headaches, and even painful menstrual periods.Side effects of some cancer treatment method can also be removed with ginger .
